The project was to design an office space, located on the ground floor of an 1863 building, in the heart of Old Montreal.
The main challenge was to offer to every workspace station the advantage of the natural light, coming from the 14 arch windows and the view on the streets. A conference room was added in the middle of the space, as a white sculpted modular. The room is attached to the staircase leading to the basement part of the office, with a large glass wall. A picture of a wall has been applied to the wall at the bottom of the stairs. Every area is set up around the middle room: workstation, library as well as the lounge still allowing intimacy within each of the station.
The idea was to work around the historical architecture of the space and respect its integrity. The emphasises was put on the raw materials such as the stone walls, the detailed steel ceilings and the wood floors, in order to value their texture. The monochrome office furniture was selected and the walls were painted with a pure white. The structural columns were painted gold.
